From Dharavi to the World
Maleesha Kharwa grew up in Dharavi, one of Mumbai’s largest slums. Discovered by American actor and filmmaker Robert Hoffman in 2020, her story captured the world — featured by the BBC, Cosmopolitan India, Vogue, Elle, and Grazia, and becoming the first person in her family to graduate from school.
In 2025, Maleesha made a decision that surprised everyone: she closed her GoFundMe and began giving back.
